Pathology

Introduction
Welcome to the Department of Pathology at Govt. Kilpauk Medical College and Hospital, proudly accredited by the National Accreditation Board for Testing and Calibration Laboratories (NABL- ISO 15189:2012) for Histopathology and Cytopathology from the year 2023. In November 2024 our lab has been updated and accredited as per ISO 150189:2022 guidelines. Our dedicated team of expert pathologists offer a comprehensive range of diagnostic services, including Histopathology, Frozen section study, Immunohistochemistry (IHC), Cytopathology, Clinical pathology and Haematology.
In Histopathology, we conduct detailed tissue examinations to detect neoplastic and non-neoplastic lesions of various organs in small and large resected samples. Our IHC services employ targeted antibodies to identify specific cellular markers for ensuring definitive tumour diagnosis. Cytopathology focuses on early detection of cancers and other conditions through the study of individual cell changes. Pap smear is being done as an early screening procedure for detecting cervical cancers. Clinical pathology covers a broad spectrum of laboratory tests on body fluids, providing a thorough understanding of patient health. Haematology specializes in the analysis of blood disorders, delivering in-depth insights into hematologic diseases.
In addition to our diagnostic services, we are committed to medical education, undertaking teaching activities for undergraduate, postgraduate, paramedical and Allied Health Sciences courses. At Kilpauk Medical College and Hospital, we prioritize quality, accuracy, and excellence in patient care and medical education. We have annual intake of 150 MBBS Students and 6 MD Postgraduate students.
Govt. Royapettah hospital, Govt. Anna Nagar peripheral hospital, Govt. Thiruvoteesswarar Hospital of Thoracic medicine, Otteri and Kalaignar centenary super speciality hospital, Guindy are attached to our institution and we cater to their need as well.
